For a villa, yacht or private venue, last-mile delivery means a verified handover to a named person in an approved location and time window. A street address alone is rarely enough: access rules, gate clearance, unloading points and a backup contact should be confirmed before dispatch.
Why the address is only the start
A residence may have several gates and security procedures. A marina may require a berth number, pier access and crew approval. A venue may use a service entrance and fixed loading slots. If an item needs careful handling, use the questions in our guide to planning fragile-item transport to clarify packaging and handover requirements.
Information needed for access
- Full address, map pin and useful landmark;
- Recipient’s name, phone number and role;
- Villa, vessel or event name;
- Pass requirements, vehicle details or pre-registration;
- Approved entrance, parking point and handover location.
Agree in advance who is authorised to accept the delivery. “The guest is expecting it” may not be sufficient for security or for a courier arriving at a controlled site.
Delivery window and live contacts
The planned window should allow for check-in, security screening, finding the correct entrance and moving the item. Provide a primary and backup contact, plus a practical way to reach them on the day. Where guests are moving between locations, align the plan with transfer coordination, since passenger and delivery access may differ.
Different locations, different checks
Villa
Confirm gates, stairs, lifts, remote access, noise restrictions and whether a secure unattended handover is explicitly permitted.
Yacht
Confirm marina, berth, boat name, crew contact and that the vessel will be alongside. Pier access should never be assumed.
Venue
Confirm the loading slot, box labels and the person responsible for receiving and storing goods. For guest gifting, see event gift logistics.
Final pre-dispatch check
Reconfirm the location, time window, access and contact the day before and again on the day. Share the number of packages, dimensions, item description and any temperature or handling needs. Timing matters particularly for flower delivery, where waiting conditions can affect the result.
A sensible fallback plan
Decide what happens if a gate is closed, the recipient is unavailable, a berth changes or an event runs late: wait, call the backup contact, move the handover or return the item. Do not rely on leaving valuable or sensitive items at a gate without an agreed custodian.
